I'm Back!

Honestly, I have no idea if any of you still check out my blog anymore which is totally my fault because I have been gone for SO long. I recently started a new job which has taken up a majority of my time and blogging/Fashion has been pushed to the side for quite some time now. And honestly, I had just been feeling pretty uninspired with what I wanted to write and post about. Instagram as well as the blogging world is so oversaturated now and sometimes it can be hard to stand out and be unique. I felt like I was posting and talking about the same things that everyone else was talking about and I didn't want to do that because it just isn't me. I want to be able to put out more unique content for you guys and it be something that actually fits with my personality. I don't just want to show you my fashion side, but a little glimpse of my life as well (it's pretty boring but still).

I felt like I wasn't being as "me" anymore and I really wanted some time to reflect on what exactly I want this blog to be about. Yes, I still absolutely love fashion, but I want to be able to talk about that, as well as personal topics such as school, stress, and overall mental health and how to deal with issues that go on in your personal life. Because as we get older, our personal lives tend to get much more hectic as well. I'm hoping that you will all follow me through this change and I also hope that you like and check out the future content that I decide to put out. I would love to start a weekly topics post about what may be on people's mind during that week. Thank you so much for those who have supported me and my blog thus far.

Okay let me stop rambling... but I wanted to come back with a fun glam outfit featuring this beautifully patterned dress to bring into the Fall season!

Fave Jumpsuits

If you have been following me for a while, you will know how much I love my jumpsuits. They are just so easy to throw on and are an instant completed outfit with little effort! I love jumpsuits for the Summer season because of how comfortable and airy they feel on those sweaty Summer days. Here are a few of my current faves!

Sleek & Stylish

This jumpsuit is perfect for a casual Summer day! You can wear this to lunch or out shopping and it is so comfortable to walk around in. Here is a similar option for you all.

Bohemian Chic

Guys, this jumpsuit totally reminds me of something you would get from Free People or Reformation! I love the button detail on this jumpsuit as well as the light and airy material. This jumpsuit is from Girl Merry which is similar to Shein but even cheaper!

Modern Utility

The utility trend has been popping up just about everywhere. From pants to dresses and even jumpsuits, this trend can be found just about anywhere and is so easy to dress up or down! Here is a similar option for you all.

Fashionably Feminine

This is another more bohemian and feminine look. I wore this jumpsuit to my brother's college graduation and it was the perfect outfit for a hot Summer day. This could even be worn to a wedding when paired with some heels and an evening bag. Here is a similar option for you all.

Elegant & Chic

Looking for a fun Memorial Day weekend outfit? This white jumpsuit is perfect for a night out or for a fun BBQ event! I love jumpsuits as a go to outfit when I want to dress up, but don't exactly know what to wear. This one is from Amazon but through the brand Romwe and it is $24 with prime shipping!

White jumpsuits can be dressed up in multiple ways. I decided to make it more Summer time appropriate with my favorite straw clutch and these bright turquoise earrings. You can always dress this outfit up for more of a night look with a black cross-body bag and black heels.

What will you all be wearing this weekend? Let me know!

Chambray Culottes

Flowy pants are my best friend during the warmer months. They are so comfortable to wear and they automatically dress up any outfit. I've had these chambray pants in my wardrobe since last year and I wanted to re-style them again for this Spring! This outfit is perfect for a day out to lunch with friends, a blogger event, and even a great outfit to wear to work by wearing some flats instead and opting out the tassel earrings for some simple studs.

I of course wanted to dress it up with some heeled sandals, as well as these tassel earrings. Unfortunately, I lost my absolute favorite Vanessa Mooney earrings (crying) so I had to find a new pair to replace them asap. Thankfully, Amazon has a ton of dupes for this earring and they look exactly the same! However, I have to admit that these earrings are nowhere near as good quality as the VM one's, but they do the trick for now.

I felt like my straw bag was looking a bit plain on its own so I decided to add these cute little fake flowers inside for an extra bit of flare to the look. A great tip is to add a scarf or flowers to your bag if you want a more dressed up vibe. It's such an easy way to do so. I hope you all like the look!

Host the Perfect Bridal Shower!

This past weekend, I had the chance to help host a bridal shower for my best friend, Imaan! As fun as it was to help create this bridal shower, it was also pretty stressful when it came to planning and budgeting for it. If you are planning a bridal shower soon, Etsy, Walmart and Amazon will be your best friends! This is where we ended up finding the most budget friendly items which still looked super elegant at the same time. We first started off with a theme which was decided to be a rustic theme with rose gold accents. We decided to book a local community center which ended up being in our budget once we split the costs. Tables and chairs were provided in the community center which was perfect for us.

As for decorations, we first started off with the big decorations such as creating a grass wall backdrop as well as coming up with a good table setup. The grass wall backdrop was actually much more simple to set up than I thought it would have been. Imaan had purchased the grass backdrop from Target and in order to make sure that the backdrop would stand up straight, I attached wood boards to the back of it which I purchased from Home Depot. I attached these boards using a staple gun and it was quite easy to put it together! We wanted to have Imaan's and her fiance's initials on the backdrop and I purchased these gorgeous initials on Etsy from a seller named ThePinkToolBox. These letters were not pre-painted and so I purchased from rose gold spray paint from Amazon that did the trick. The candles on the backdrop are from Amazon and the balloons above the backdrop are from Etsy and Party Depot which our friend Qurratulain attached together to create this cute bouquet of balloons.

For the table setup, we wanted it to solely be a dessert table so we kept it simple with the cake, a donut tray, and some cute easy to make mocktails. As for the tablecloth, this was purchased from Amazon. This beautiful floral cake from ordered from Whole Foods and was only $40 to create. All I did was show them a photo of what I wanted and it was able to be done! The donuts were from Krispy Kreme and the macaroons were from Costco. Our friend Qurratulain made small dessert cups which consisted of custard and berries.

As for the setup for all of the guests, we welcomed them in with a welcome sign which was purchased from Etsy. For the tables, I purchased cream table clothes from Walmart and these faux blush pink rose petals from Amazon for a very inexpensive price. In the midst of all the chaos, we had almost forgot to purchase utensils, cups and napkins! Obviously this was an easy fix and we just went to Walmart to purchase the essentials, as well as water and soda for the food. We catered from a local restaurant in the area and we kept it simple with some pizza and subs but of course based on your bridal shower, you can totally alter this to be whatever you want. For music, Imaan had her own bluetooth speaker and I would suggest it be best to ask one of your friends or acquaintances to borrow a speaker for that day so that you don't have to.

Now this is just the basics of how to make sure to host a great bridal shower but you can always add or subtract more to your own. I hope this was helpful for you all!

Finding the Modest Maxi

Once it turns 70 degrees, all I wear are flowy pants, skirts, and dresses! Maxi dresses are a modest girl's go-to look when they want to dress up but aren't quite sure what exactly to wear. The only thing about maxi dresses are where to find them. Places like Forever 21 have the occasional nice maxi dress but most of the time, you'll find their dresses to have slits or be see through. If you do end up finding a maxi dress, many times it turns out to be super expensive. However, I've found one store that has some gorgeous modest maxi dresses that don't end up costing you an arm and a leg!

I had no idea what the store Altar'd State was until it opened up in my local mall. Now don't get me wrong, this store can still be a bit expensive but since they are a Christian based company, they are big on modest clothing which is also perfect for us Muslim gals! I would suggest first browsing through their sale section because those are going to be the more reasonably priced items in the store. I ended up finding this maxi dress that I'm wearing for today's post on sale for $25! I love the simple, yet colorful pattern on the dress. You can easily dress this up or down depending on what look you're going for.

I of course went a bit more casual and bohemian with this outfit. But I would easily dress it up by ditching the hat, putting on some dressy statement earrings, and opt for my nude block heeled sandals instead. This dress was perfect for the warm weather weekend here in the D.C. area and I'm so glad that i've found a new place to shop for some more modest dresses. Another store that I've noticed has been amping up their dress collection is Francesca's. They are a bit more on the affordable side and always have sales going on in their stores. Let me know if you've found any great dress stores in your area!

A Festival of Blossoms

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival here in Washington D.C. is one of my favorite events in the area. People come from all over the country and the world to see these beautiful blossoms by the Tidal Basin. Of course, I also took this as an opportunity to get some fun photos!

I love this time of year because I can finally bring out my midi and maxi dresses again. I love wearing dresses because they are so easy and comfortable. For this look, I wanted my dress to contrast with the pink flowers which is why I went with this navy blue. This midi dress is from Loft and I thought it was perfect for both work, and to wear for a nice day outside. Since I work in a more professional workwear setting. I would opt to wear this dress with either a cardigan and flats or a blazer and some block heels.

I have been loving these wedges from Soludos. They are one of the most comfortable pair of wedges that I own! If you have wider feet, it will take about 2-3 wears for you to break them in but after that they are good to go. Since the top of the dress is more plain, I wanted to add some fun with these tassel earrings which are again a staple accessory in my wardrobe this Spring and Summer season. You guys already know how often I wear this basket bag during this time of the year so I course I had to add it to this look as well. I am so excited to bring more fun Spring and Summer dress looks for you all. I hope you all like this look!

These awesome photos were taken by photographer Rob Gonzalez and you can check our more of his great work by clicking here!

Lightweight Duster

Some Spring days can still be a little chilly. Duster and trench coats are the perfect way to still wear your Spring outfits, but stay cozy at the same time. I have yet to find a nice trench coat to invest in but for now, I have a few light weight dusters that I can wear instead. This one in particular is from Forever 21 and I got it on sale for literally $10! I have a love/hate relationship with Forever 21's sale section because it can be so frustrating to look through everything, but once you find a gem, it ends up being an amazing deal. My favorite blogger for my Spring and Summer inspiration is Julia Engel and you can check out her BEAUTIFUL blog my clicking here! She is always wearing light and colorful outfits which is exactly my color palette for the warmer months. That is what inspired this light pastel look for me.

My best friend Imaan and I decided to go out to National Harbor for this nice Spring day and we were so happy to see that some of the flowers had started to bloom! I knew I wanted to wear some pink accessories with this look because that is my go to color in the Spring and Summer seasons. Julia tends to wear really pretty scarves in her hair and although my hair isn't as long as it used to be, I still decided to try this look out for myself and ended up loving the way it came out. I love a pair of crisp white pants during this time of year so I decided to bring these wide leg ones out for this look paired with this feminine white eyelet top.

If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I have a great love for basket bags and so I knew I had to bring out my trusty basket bag from Doen that I've has for almost 2 years now. I wanted to be comfortable because I knew we would walk around quite a bit, so I opted for these pointed toe slides which go with just about everything. As for the rest of my accessories, I went with some statement pink earrings, as well as my gold watch. Let me know what your favorite part of this look was and if you'll be buying a duster coat for Spring yourself!
